Over the weekend I had the incredible honor to volunteer with some amazing organizations who put together Feed Los Angeles. Not only were we providing food (from Wings'N Waffles food truck) and water, but hygiene packages which included socks, toothbrush + toothpaste, deodorant, combs and feminine products. Mongolia Bakery also supplied several dozen boxes of cupcakes!
The City Eats is an organization that sets up these distribution opportunities monthly in San Francisco, but is expanding its reach one city at a time. They were amazing to work with and created a truly loving environment for both volunteers and any Angelenos stopping by for assistance.
EIGBO is an apparel brand created by the amazing Genevieve Jackson. She is truly dedicated to bringing a smile to others' faces and was able to assist The City Eats in coming to Los Angeles. The brand stresses that everything is gonna be ok, and offers a chance to express your story or read inspirational stories from others on their website/blog.
I am so humbled by this opportunity and by the men and women who stopped by. They were truly grateful for everything we put together for them.
So often we get caught up in our own lives that we put blinders up to those around us that need our assistance and kindness. I am thankful to have interacted with so many incredible people today - people who have found themselves in the wrong situation, but still keep hope that everything is gonna be okay.
