Let's be honest...you don't own a cat - you're cat owns you.
(No cats were harmed in the making of this post ... although he was a little grumpy)
In honor of this little king's 1st birthday I wanted to share my experience with adoption and being a first time cat-owner. I adopted Hampton from the Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats in Los Angeles, which focuses on rescue and socialization therapy for feral kittens.
I chose a kitten because I had just moved into my own apartment, was starting my new job, and knew that I did not have the time to train a brand new puppy. Cat's, although more high-mainenance, are pretty independent, and any cat owner will tell you that you do not own your cat - but they definitely own you.
Being a first time cat owner I probably trained Hampton more like a dog than I should have. He loves playing in water, he growls, he may be the clumsiest cat alive, and he is now friends with my fish. But sticking to his true nature - he is HIGH MAINTENANCE - he will only drink his water out of a drinking glass (preferably on my coffee table) and will cry at the door if I do not let him come in and watch me put on my makeup in the mornings.
With so many animals being turned into shelters everyday, I think it is so important to do your research and look into adoption. Opposite of popular belief, I have had no problems with my kitty - if anything our bond is stronger. I also think that the place I got him from had such a great focus on rehabilitating them so they can be a successful member of catsiety.
Happy Halloween and Happy 1st Birthday Hampton!

We don't fall in love with Autumn solely on the weather - we fall in love with spice-scented candles, plaid, bonfires and pumpkin picking!
Flannels seem to be the never ending Fall go-to, but I'm not complaining!
I had recently overheard someone saying that all girls look the same during the fall... Yes, a ton of girls wear plaid flannels during this season, but we do it for good reasons!
1. They keep us warm, but not like a full winter coat! (the fall is a transition, we need something that works for both warm and cool weather)
2. They are easy to wear! (after a long Summer of planning cute outfits - we need something simple in our wardrobes)
3. There are endless options. (you won't have to worry about the girl next to you wearing the same one because there is no shortage of colors, patterns and styles!)
So go put on your favorite Fall flannel and go pumpkin picking. There is no judgement here!

Hampton and I are in love with our newest friendship bracelet/collar
Mieroglpyhs creates hand-crafted bracelets that are both cruelty-free and vegan friendly!
Mieroglyphs are created to promote positivity by engraving empowering phrases onto the inside of the bracelets. Mine says: "The journey of life is sweeter when travelled with a pet" and matched my cat's Mieroglyph collar. The collars were actually inspired by their very own team member (and pet) Jax!
I am wearing the "Pawsome" bracelet and Hampton is wearing the matching design. (Their sizes are made for dogs so I got him the XS). The collar, although the smallest, is still a little loose. The pet collars are created with the same 100% Organic cotton, and incorporates that cork leather on the outside so your pet's can be personalized too! I am absolutely in love with our newest "friendship bracelets".
You can get your very own (and one for your furry friend) for 10% OFF using my code HAMPTON10 - so make sure to check them out -- Hampton and I highly recommend it!

I am IN LOVE with Bitchin Skin.
The brand is based out of Australia and produces an incredible face scrub that is created using ingredients such as green tea, coconut oil (my go-to skincare necessity), sea salt and peppermint oil. Also the scrub is 100% vegan approved - this means the brand does NOT participate in animal testing!
When I first opened the bag I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at. Unlike most of the scrubs I have tried, Bitchin Skin is a dryer consistency - something between pot and ground up seaweed. (but without the fishy smell...the peppermint oil is very dominant)
I was also surprised at how intense the scrub was. Bitchin Skin definitely gets read of any dead skin and unwanted blemishes. (If you have very sensitive skin I would patch test first!)
I highly recommend Bitchin Skin for anyone who is looking for an easy (and quick) daily face scrub. Bitchin Skin flowed effortless into my nightly routines and always left my skin feeling bitchin!

Blogging seemed almost unattainable at first. I thought it was only something you did if you looked like Miranda Kerr, dressed like Anna Wintour and hung out with Michael Kors on the weekends - but I soon realized that blogging isn't about portraying yourself as a magazine cover, but rather just portraying yourself as you are.
Creating my blog was like creating an advanced journal. For so many years I stood behind a camera lens and photographed anything and everything. Stepping out as the subject was definitely frightening. I felt uncomfortable and like I was trying too hard. Luckily I started shooting with my boyfriend and it went from being a terrifying task to "our" thing!
Every location scouting trip, argument about what to wear, and shoot was a new adventure - a fun (and comfortable) adventure! I don't want to portray myself as someone I'm not. I don't wear designer everyday and I don't walk around with a white wall following close behind me.
I like color and art and I wanted to portray that. I like trends, and I'm not scared to say it. So many people are quick to say they are individuals - but following trends is OKAY!!! As long as you add your own twist to them, you can still have your own personal style! I personally, love to mix designer pieces with brands like H&M, Forever 21 and Target.
Each day is a new adventure and I look forward to sharing it with you all!
I HAD to share this dress with you! I have always been a huge fan of small details - add some pockets to a cute skirt or dress and I am sold!
Have you ever realized how many pockets men's clothing contain, while women have only a few - if any? While I went to school we had discussed the many differences between men and women's clothing and talked about how men are "supposed" to carry everything. (Chivalry can be discussed at a later time)
Women carry purses, yes, but their sole responsibilities were not to carry the wallet, the car keys, and their phones. Suddenly we have dresses with pockets and all we are thinking is "cute design!" - but is there more to it?
Maybe I am thinking to much into it...but either way, this dress is absolutely perfect (even for the fall - all you have to do it pair it with a thick blanket scarf and you are set!)
I hope you enjoy the small details as much as I do!
What I Am Wearing:
